Actress Chizzy Akudolu will be taking to the stage at the NEC, Birmingham as part of our growing speaker line-up for Volunteer Expo.

Chizzy has become a staple of British television in recent times, best known for her portrayal of Mo Effanga on Holby City and having recently competed on Strictly Come Dancing and Masterchef.

She recently completed shooting on Rowan Atkinson’s new comedy series Man Vs Bee for Netflix just after playing Tina Bartrum in the second series of the Sky Original Hitmen alongside Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.

In 2014, Chizzy was diagnosed with depression, which she described as coming “like a bolt from the blue”.

Since successfully learning to live with and overcome her mental health issues, Chizzy has been a vocal advocate.

She now champions the importance of breaking down the stigma attached to mental health issues, and the need to talk openly about what we’re all going through.

With her infectious and lively personality, Chizzy is an inspirational and motivational speaker on achieving goals and overcoming adversity and we can’t wait to hear her words of inspiration at Volunteer Expo.

Chizzy joins our sensational speaker line-up that already includes England Rugby World Cup winner Ben Cohen and Hannah Ingram-Moore – daughter of Captain Sir Tom Moore and founder of The Captain Tom Foundation. Expect more speaker announcements soon!

Volunteer Expo Live is hosted by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland, and is taking place at the NEC, Birmingham on 6th and 7th May 2022.
