Royal Voluntary Service

Learning Zone Partner

Royal Voluntary Service is one of Britain’s largest volunteering charities. Established in 1938 to help prepare communities for the coming war, the organisation (then the WVS) rallied a million women to volunteer to support those in need. Ever since then, our volunteers’ attention has been on the most urgent ‘social needs of the day’.

Today, our volunteers’ time is spent easing pressure on the NHS and supporting Britain’s ageing population to live healthier and happier lives. The support our 18,000 volunteers provide, from setting up a regular lunch club to mobilising patients on hospital wards, help make lives better, communities stronger and relieve pressure on overstretched public services.
