Exhibitor Spotlight: Blue Cross

Pets are at the heart of everything Blue Cross does. Each year, thousands of cats, dogs, small pets and horses turn to their animal hospitals, clinics and rehoming services for treatment and to find them the happy homes they deserve.

Volunteers are at the heart of Blue Cross and are vital to our success, freely giving their expertise, skills and time. We have over 5000 volunteers working alongside employees, enabling us to help more pets, raise awareness and generate income together as one team.

Our strength is gained from our volunteers, benefitting from a variety of experience and talent to deliver our services more effectively.

“Our volunteers are so important. They have a huge impact contributing 30% of all the time worked at the charity and changing the lives of pets and pet owners across their communities.”

Karen Janes, Head of Strategic Volunteering says: “Our volunteers are so important. They have a huge impact contributing 30% of all the time worked at the charity and changing the lives of pets and pet owners across their communities. Their passion and dedication to pet welfare is inspiring.”

Their clear passion for animal welfare grasped my attention on a very big scale”

Whether they are raising money in our shops, campaigning for pet welfare online or directly caring for sick or homeless pets in our rehoming centres or hospitals; all Blue Cross volunteers are working towards our mission; to improve the welfare and quality of life for all pets.

Blue Cross volunteers are working towards our mission; to improve the welfare and quality of life for all pets.

Claire Roberts, one of our reception volunteers at our Merton hospital, describes why she chose Blue Cross to volunteer:

‘There were other charities I looked at, but Blue Cross stood out from the rest. Their clear passion for animal welfare grasped my attention on a very big scale and the services they offer the community inspired me to want to be a part of their family so I applied and here I am today, proud to say “I volunteer for Blue Cross”.
